Services & Coverage

What security services does PLYMX provide?

PLYMX provides SIA-licensed door supervision, event security, stewarding support, access control, crowd management and commercial or venue security support.

Every assignment is considered individually and is subject to suitable personnel, operational requirements and any relevant licensing requirements.

Which areas do you cover?

PLYMX is based in Plymouth and supports clients across Devon, Cornwall and the wider South West.

We can also consider assignments further afield depending on the size, location and requirements of the booking.

Can you support private functions as well as businesses?

Yes. We can provide suitable security or stewarding support for private functions, venues, businesses and organised events.

The level and type of cover required will depend on the event, venue and duties involved.

Can you provide short-notice security cover?

We will always try to help.

Short-notice bookings are subject to suitable personnel being available and us having enough information to make sure the assignment can be covered safely and professionally.

Licensing & Standards

Are your security personnel SIA licensed?

Yes. Only personnel holding the correct, valid SIA licence will be deployed to duties where an SIA licence is legally required.

Licence details are checked before approval and kept under review.

What is the difference between a security operative and a steward?

SIA-licensed security personnel can undertake licensable security duties appropriate to the licence they hold.

Stewards provide non-licensable event and customer-support duties. They must not undertake licensable security activities unless they also hold the appropriate valid SIA licence.

Is PLYMX Security Ltd insured?

Yes.

PLYMX currently holds £5 million Public Liability Insurance and £10 million Employers' Liability Insurance.

Evidence of insurance can be provided to clients where required.

Do you check personnel before they work for PLYMX?

Yes. Appropriate checks are completed before personnel are approved for deployment.

Depending on the role, these can include identity and Right to Work checks, SIA licence verification, relevant training or qualification evidence and any additional checks required for the assignment or client.

Can you provide risk assessments and assignment instructions?

Yes. Risk assessments, assignment information and site-specific instructions can be prepared where required and appropriate to the booking.

We work with the client to understand the venue, duties, known risks and operational requirements before deployment.

Will a director attend the first booking?

Where operationally possible, a PLYMX director will attend, supervise, cover or personally check the first booking.

This helps us make sure expectations, standards and communication are right from the start.

Quotes & Communication

How do I request a quotation?

Contact PLYMX with the date, location, required hours, number of personnel and an outline of the duties or type of event.

Your enquiry will be reviewed by a real person and we will contact you if we need any further information before preparing your quotation.

Can I speak to a real person?

Absolutely.

We don't use chatbots for client enquiries. Every enquiry is read and answered by a real person — usually Paul or Lee.

We would rather understand what you actually need, answer your questions clearly and be honest about what we can deliver.

Will PLYMX match or beat another quotation?

Where possible, we will aim to match or beat a genuine like-for-like written quotation.

The comparison must cover equivalent staffing, hours, duties, location and service requirements. All quotations remain subject to suitability, operational requirements and availability.

What information do you need to prepare a quote?

The more information you can provide, the more accurately we can assess your requirements.

It is useful to know:

  • Date or dates required

  • Location or venue

  • Start and finish times

  • Type of event, business or site

  • Number of personnel required

  • Expected duties

  • Expected attendance, where relevant

  • Any known risks or special requirements

If you would like us to compare another provider's quotation, you can also send us a copy of the genuine written quote.

What happens if I have a concern during an assignment?

Please speak to the PLYMX supervisor, attending director or your PLYMX contact as soon as possible.

We take concerns seriously and will work with you to resolve issues promptly. Where appropriate, concerns or incidents will also be recorded and reviewed after the assignment.

Work With Us

How do I register my interest in working with PLYMX?

Visit our Contact page and use the enquiry form to register your interest in working with PLYMX.

At this first stage, we only need basic information about you and the type of work you are interested in.

Please do not upload passports, driving licences, bank details or other sensitive documents through the initial registration form.

If we would like to progress your application, we will explain the next steps and any documents required.

Do I need an SIA licence?

For licensable security work, you must hold the correct and valid SIA licence for the duties being undertaken.

Some suitable non-licensable stewarding opportunities may not require an SIA licence.

Does registering with PLYMX guarantee me work?

No.

Registering your interest or completing onboarding does not guarantee approval, minimum hours or assignments.

Opportunities depend on suitability, client requirements, operational need and availability.

What checks are completed during onboarding?

Checks depend on the role and assignment but may include:

  • Proof of identity

  • Right to Work

  • SIA licence verification where applicable

  • Relevant training or qualification evidence

  • Emergency contact information

  • Role or client-specific documentation

  • DBS evidence where a particular role or client requires it

We only request information that is relevant to the onboarding process or work being considered.

Do you welcome applications from the Armed Forces community?

Yes.

PLYMX Security Ltd is a registered signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant and welcomes interest from serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families.

Our connection with the Armed Forces community is something we are proud to support.
